LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Katsina State Police Command has tightened security across the state to protect candidates writing the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Officers equipped with operational equipment were deployed to ensure a safe and orderly process as “Jambites,” as they are popularly called, move to their various examination centres across the state.
Following directives from the Nigeria Police Force leadership, the Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar-Fage, assured that security plans covers all 19 approved examination centres.
In a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, the commissioner explained that the deployment is designed to create a safe environment for candidates, officials, and other stakeholders.
According to him, officers assigned to the exercise had been instructed to act professionally while staying alert and proactive.

“Personnel on duty have been directed to maintain professionalism, remain courteous, and be firm and proactive in the discharge of their responsibilities,” Umar-Fage said.
As The UTME is scheduled to run from April 16 to April 24, traffic control has also been strengthened around examination venues and nearby roads to ease movement during the period.
Meanwhile, the commissioner called on candidates, parents, and residents to cooperate with security personnel and follow all examination rules.
He warned that anyone attempting to disrupt the process would face legal action.
Umar-Fage further reassured residents of the command’s commitment to protecting lives and maintaining peace throughout the examination period. Residents were encouraged to stay alert and report suspicious activities through emergency lines or the nearest police station.
