LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Veteran entertainer Charly Boy, also known as Area Fada, has thrown his weight behind social critic VeryDarkMan, backing explosive allegations against Omoyele Sowore over how activism funds are handled.

The outspoken entertainer publicly supported VeryDarkMan after the critic released a viral video accusing Omoyele Sowore of using activism as a means of personal financial gain.

In the video titled “Unmasking Omoyele Sowore,” VeryDarkMan questioned Sowore’s role in major protests, claiming he was often absent while others, including Charly Boy, took the lead on the streets.

He also suggested that the activism community, once seen as united against bad governance, may not be as transparent as it appears.

Reacting via his X account, Charly Boy praised the critic’s boldness, agreeing with the claims and expressing long-standing doubts about the integrity of some activists.

According to the Area Fada, he dislikes the word “activists” because many of those he has encountered pursue it for personal gain.

He also praised VDM for his detailed research on Sowore, describing the claims as accurate

“Well Done my son, Very Dark Man. All you said was nothing but the truth. Very well researched. This is why I don’t like the word, ‘activists’ because I know many of dem dey use am as business,” he said.

Furthermore, the veteran performer shared a personal experience that shaped his views.

He alleged that Sowore and fellow activist Deji Adeyanju once turned against him over funds given to his foundation by the Ford Foundation.

Charly Boy revealed that the pressure to share funds meant for a specific project led to a fallout and a damaging public campaign against him.

He described the incident as a defining moment that exposed cracks within the activist community.

“VDM, u forget to mention the horrible campaign dey carried out on me. Deji, Sowere and co because I refused to bring the money Ford Foundation gave my Foundation for a campaign. Dey wanted me to bring out the money to share to dem, Sowere was the ring leader. My first encounter with real betrayal,” he said.

In closing, the entertainer encouraged VeryDarkMan to remain focused on his mission, offering prayers for strength and consistency as he champions the fight against corruption in the country.

“VDM my son, I pray you remain consistent in ur pursuit of a better Nigeria. God bless,” Charly Boy wrote.
