LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Embattled businessman Linus Williams, popularly known as BLORD, has been released from Kuje Prison after a Federal High Court in Abuja granted him bail, with a directive that he surrender his international passport as part of the conditions.
The update on his release was first shared by activist Omoyele Sowore, who took to social media shortly after the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja delivered its decision on Friday, April 17.
The ruling marks a temporary breakthrough in his ongoing legal troubles after nearly two weeks in detention.
BLORD had been held at Kuje Prison for about 15 days following his arraignment on several charges.
According to court filings, the businessman is facing allegations that include criminal conspiracy, impersonation, and the unauthorized use of the image of social media critic VeryDarkMan.

These claims are tied to disputes over online content. In a key part of the ruling, the court granted BLORD bail on self-recognition.
This means he was released based on his personal promise to appear for future court proceedings.
However, the judge also introduced strict conditions to ensure compliance.
Notably, BLORD has been ordered to surrender his international passport, limiting his ability to travel outside Nigeria while the case is ongoing.
Confirming the development, Sowore stated, “Bail has been granted to Linus Williams, popularly known as @mrblordofficial BLORD, on self-recognizance. The court, however, ordered that he deposit his international passport as part of the bail conditions.”

Meanwhile, the case itself remains far from resolved as BLORD is still expected to defend himself against multiple charges, with legal proceedings set to continue in the coming weeks.
Public interest in the case has remained intense, driven by both supporters and critics who have closely followed each court appearance.
His time in detention also sparked concern, especially after reports questioned his health condition while in custody.
