LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Kebbi States’s Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero (AFUSTA), has achieved full National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation for all 11 academic programmes, marking a major milestone in academic quality assurance and institutional development.
Positioning the institution among Nigeria’s fast-improving universities, programmes were assessed during the NUC’s October/November 2025 accreditation exercise, with final confirmation of results communicated to the university in April.
According to the university’s Public Relations Officer, Mustapha Ango, all programmes across seven faculties secured full accreditation status valid for five years.
He said the achievement reflects the institution’s growing commitment to academic standards, quality assurance, and compliance with global best practices in higher education.
“This across-the-board success underscores AFUSTA’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence, quality assurance, and global best practices in higher education,” Ango said.
The accredited programmes cut across several disciplines, including Agriculture, Automobile Technology Education, Biochemistry, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Medicine and Surgery, Quantity Surveying, Zoology, Metalwork Technology Education, Electrical/Electronics Technology Education, and related engineering fields.
AFUSTA’s PRO further recalled that during the October/November 2024 accreditation cycle, the university achieved 100% approval in key programmes such as Nursing Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, and Biology, which helped build momentum for the 2025 outcome.

He maintained that the earlier success established a strong foundation for improved academic culture, accountability, and sustained quality assurance across the institution.
Notably, Ango also credited the development to the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bashar Danshehu, noting that the milestone was achieved within less than two years of his administration.
He explained that the Vice-Chancellor inherited an institution facing financial constraints, limited laboratory infrastructure, and accreditation challenges, but was able to reposition it through strategic reforms.
“Through strategic foresight, prudent financial management, and effective institutional coordination, he successfully transformed these challenges into opportunities for growth and excellence,” he said.
Ango added that the latest accreditation outcome represents institutional renewal and long-term academic credibility for AFUSTA.
He described Prof. Danshehu as a transformative leader whose performance has redefined the university’s growth trajectory within a short period.
“With vision, discipline, and commitment, even the most challenging circumstances can yield extraordinary outcomes,” he said.
Ultimately, the university said the accreditation success will serve as a benchmark for future development while reinforcing its position as a growing centre for science, technology, and professional education in Nigeria.
