LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Reality TV star Tega Dominic has cautioned people against signing up for Big Brother Naija (BBN), revealing that her experience on the show had a lasting impact on her mental health.

Speaking about life after the reality show, Tega said she would not recommend the platform to anyone close to her, especially those who are not mentally strong enough to handle the pressure that comes with it both during and after the show.

“I won’t tell anybody close to me to go for Big Brother. If you’re not mentally strong, don’t go for Big Brother,” she said.

According to her, the aftermath of the show was more difficult than expected.

She revealed that she struggled with anxiety, which later developed into social anxiety, making it hard for her to comfortably be in public spaces on her own.

In addition, Tega explained that the emotional toll also affected her personal interactions.

According to Tega, she can still express affection, but finds it difficult to receive it, showing how deeply the experience changed her sense of comfort.

“After big brother I used to have anxiety. It became worse. I had social anxiety, I can’t go to spaces if I’m alone. I can give you hugs, but I can’t receive hugs,” Tega stated.

She stressed that anyone considering joining the show must be mentally prepared for the pressure that comes with constant public attention and scrutiny.
