OGUN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-Former Turkey international, Erman Toroğlu has directed criticism towards Okan Buruk regarding Galatasaray’s recent lack of consistency following Victor Osimhen’s injury.

Osimhen suffered an arm injury during the second leg of Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League match against Liverpool at Anfield in March, which has sidelined him at a pivotal moment in the season.

In his absence, the Yellow-Reds found it challenging to maintain their form, achieving only one victory in their last three league encounters.

During this timeframe, Galatasaray experienced a 2-1 loss to Trabzonspor, secured a 3-1 win against Göztepe, and were held to a 1-1 draw by Kocaelispor.

In statements reported by Habersarikirmizi, Toroğlu criticized Buruk’s management of the team, implying that the squad has become excessively dependent on Osimhen.

“There was Icardi, there was Osimhen, there was Okan Buruk. Now Osimhen is absent, Okan Buruk is absent. It’s that straightforward,” Toroğlu remarked.

“If you are reliant on just one player in such a large squad, the responsibility lies with you. Okan Buruk failed to manage this team. Osimhen was the one directing you on the pitch.”

Toroğlu also raised concerns about Buruk’s treatment of Icardi,f asserting that the Argentine forward has struggled with his form due to inconsistent playing time.

“You attempted to substitute Icardi in the 89th minute because Osimhen was present, and you marginalized him. You did this, you did that, yet your team simply did not perform,” he continued.

Osimhen has resumed training and is nearing a return to play before the month concludes.

The Nigerian international is anticipated to be fit for the match against Fenerbahçe, with indications that he may first be included in the squad for the game against Gençlerbirliği.

His return would offer a timely advantage for Buruk as Galatasaray aims to regain momentum in the title race after losing crucial points in recent weeks.
