Businessman Sentenced To Two Years For Cheating

ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- A Magistrate’s Court in Jos on Tuesday sentenced a 41-year-old businessman, Musa Chindo, to two years imprisonment for breach of trust and cheating.

The Magistrate, Mrs Irene Pati, sentenced the convict, who pleaded guilty to the two- count charge.

Pati, however, gave the convict an option of N30,000 fine or one year in prison for breach of trust and another N30,000 fine or one year for cheating.

She also ordered him to pay N175,000 as compensation to the complainant.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat , told the court that the complainant, Grace Ndace reported the case on March 11, at the Nassarawa Gwong Police Station.

Gokwat said the convict was given N175,000 to pay for house rent, but he criminally absconded with the money .

He said the offence contravened the Plateau Penal Code Law.
