LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Afrobeats star Lekan Osifeso Junior, popularly known as Lojay, has shared his fantasy of a Casanova lifestyle before he achieved fame and why he chose not to pursue it as he advanced in his career.
In a recent episode of the I Said What I Said podcast, the “Monalisa” hitmaker admitted that he once associated fame with the freedom to indulge in a flashy lifestyle filled with women.
However, that mindset did not last long. Lojay explained that his experiences in the music industry quickly taught him the importance of self-control and focus. According to him, a lasting career in the business demands discipline, especially when faced with constant temptation.

“There is a lot of temptation in the music industry. You will see a lot of things, but you are not meant to touch. I used to think I would frolic with a lot of ladies because there are babes everywhere. But when you have about 100 girls talking to you, that is when you need to cultivate discipline,” he said.
Building on that point, the singer noted that observing successful artists reshaped his priorities. He stressed that anyone aiming for a long-lasting career must avoid distractions.
“I realized if you want a long career like the Big 3, you have to stay away from too many girls,” Lojay added.

In addition, the “Tonongo” star revealed that one of his biggest surprises after gaining mainstream success was how different reality felt compared to his earlier expectations. The lifestyles that once seemed exciting while he was still an underground artist no longer held the same appeal.
He further explained that contrary to public perception, many musicians operate with a strong sense of discipline. With reputations constantly under scrutiny, artists are careful about their behavior and public image.
Ultimately, Lojay credited his personal values for helping him stay grounded. He acknowledged that his personality has played a key role in avoiding excessive indulgence, allowing him to maintain focus on his craft while navigating the pressures of fame.
