ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Enugu State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed reports of internal crisis, describing claims of mass resignations and non-payment of delegates’ stipends as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Chief Uche Obute, said the allegations were fabricated by mischief-makers to distract the party from its preparations for the 2027 general elections.
“The claims of mass resignation and agitation over delegates’ welfare are concocted stories designed to create unnecessary tension within the party,” Obute said.
He added that there was no discontent among delegates who attended the recent national convention, insisting that the party remained united and focused.
Addressing reports of members exiting the party over alleged marginalisation, the APC maintained that the administration of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah had instead strengthened its structure in the state.

According to the statement, “The governor is widely known for his inclusive leadership style, carrying along both members of the old APC bloc and new entrants into the party.”
The party further claimed that its influence in Enugu had grown significantly, describing the state as an emerging stronghold.
It stated that members across political structures, including National and State Assemblies, as well as the 17 local government areas, were fully aligned with the party.
Highlighting its internal balance, the APC said members of the “old bloc” still occupy key positions within its hierarchy.
“Both the old and new blocs are fully accommodated at all levels of party leadership, from the wards to the local government areas and the state structure,” the statement added.
The party cited figures such as the South-East Zonal Woman Leader, Dr Oby Ajih, and the Deputy National Chairman (South), Dr Ben Nwoye, as examples of its inclusive leadership arrangement.
Reaffirming its unity under the state chairman, Dr Martin Chukwunweike, the APC urged members and the public to disregard what it described as sponsored misinformation.
“No amount of misinformation will derail our progress or our commitment to consolidating our dominance in the state ahead of future elections,” the party stated.
