LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Veteran Nollywood actress Fausat Balogun, widely known as Madam Saje, has addressed her frequent appearances at social events hosted by younger actors.
She revealed that her actions are rooted in a personal history of rejection and hardship, which shaped her commitment to supporting younger colleagues.
In a recent interview with African A-List, the respected screen star said her presence at such gatherings is not about attention but about empathy and support.
She noted that attending these events reminds her of a painful experience from her own past.
According to her, at one point in her career, she organized an event and invited colleagues, but many failed to show up.

That moment left a lasting impression and shaped her outlook on showing up for others.
“I also love attending people’s parties, especially those of younger actors people don’t talk about that a lot. Because something similar happened to me before when I invited people, many didn’t show up”, she said.
Madam Saje also opened up about the difficult early days of her acting journey. She revealed that survival was not always easy, admitting she once stole food to get by and worked on film sets without receiving any payment.
She maintained that every profession comes with challenges, and perseverance is key. The actress urged young people, especially aspiring actors, to remain patient and avoid comparing their progress with others. Success, she emphasized, comes at the right time for those who stay committed.
