Employer Arraigned For Allegedly Stealing N12.2m Worth Of Farm Tools

ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The police on Friday, charged three employees before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for allegedly stealing farm tools and other items worth N12.2 million.

The defendants are: Aishat Musa, 35; Ifedayo Osalohun, 28; and Oluwatosin Ajewole, 40.

The trio who worked as employees of Farmway Agrotec Ltd, in the Ogunpa area of Ibadan, are standing trial on charges bordering on conspiracy and stealing.

They each however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Insp. Adeshina Folaranmi, told the court that the defendants committed the offences between November 2024 and April 2026 at the company.

He alleged that the defendants conspired to steal different seeds, as well as agricultural items such as sprayers, chemicals and other farm tools worth N12.2 million.

The stolen items are owned by the company.

He said that they were eventually arrested following police investigation.

The offences contravene the provisions of sections 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mrs Oluwabusayo Osho, granted the defendants bail in the sum of five million naira each, with two sureties each in like sum.

Among others, the court held that one of the sureties must be a blood relation of the defendants, adding that their addresses should be duly verified by the prosecutor.

The court adjourned the case until July 7, for hearing.
