ABUJA, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-China has welcomed the announcement by relevant parties on reaching a ceasefire arrangement in the Iran conflict.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning made this known on Wednesday, expressing support for mediation efforts by countries such as Pakistan.

Iran and the United States agreed to a two-week ceasefire less than two hours before the deadline set by U.S. President Donald Trump, and are expected to hold negotiations in Pakistan.

Mao stated that China has consistently advocated an end to military operations and emphasised resolving disputes through political and diplomatic means to achieve lasting peace and stability in the Middle East and the Gulf region.

The spokesperson added that China has also contributed its own efforts toward this goal.
