LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nigerian actress Laide Bakare has shared her views on relationships, making it clear that commitment comes first before a partner can stay over, while stressing that love is not a priority for her.
In a candid sit-down on the Real Life With Aunty Ayo podcast hosted by actress Ayo Adesanya, Bakare explained that she values respect, appreciation, and practical commitment over emotional attachment.
“I don’t love o, let’s leave love aside. I like, I appreciate and respect, but I don’t like love,” she said.
However, her stance goes beyond just emotions. The actress also outlined strict conditions for any man who wants to be part of her life, especially when it comes to access to her home.

Bakare stated that no man is allowed to visit her unless they are married, emphasizing that a serious relationship must come with responsibility and clear commitment.
“No man can come to my house until we are married. We will do anything in his house, but if he wants to come to my house, he should pay the bride price. He is the man; he should be responsible,” she stated.
In addition, Bakare insisted that a man must take the lead by formalizing the relationship, rather than acting casually without long-term intentions. In her view, it is more acceptable for her to leave her belongings at his place than for him to keep his things in her home.
“He should come and carry me to his house. How can you be coming to my house and not putting a ring on it? It is better for me to hang my clothes in your house than for you to hang your clothes in my house,” Bakare added, presenting a clear picture of defined roles rather than romantic ideals.
