LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Lagos State Government, through its Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, has announced temporary road closures ahead of the highly anticipated Lagos Fanti Carnival set for Monday, April 6, 2026.
Authorities announced that carnival lovers and residents should expect disruptions as several key roads will be temporarily closed from 7:00 a.m., giving the city a chance to prepare for one of its biggest cultural celebrations.Â
Therefore, residents and drivers have been advised by traffic authorities to plan ahead and seek alternative routes across the city to avoid delays.
Key areas affected include King George V Road near the Mobil Filling Station, Onikan Roundabout, Flagstaff House, Outer Marina by the State House, Campbell Street near the Old Defence Building, and Catholic Mission Street by St. Nicholas Hospital.
Providing some amount of ease to commuters, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), has mapped out detours. Vehicles coming from Obalende heading to Onikan Roundabout will be redirected toward Zone 2.

Traffic from Bonny Camp to McEwen Bridge, along with Flagstaff House to TBS, will be diverted to Obalende Bridge. Also, outer Marina drivers heading to TBS will follow the Obalende Bridge route.
Authorities expressed regret for any inconvenience while applauding the patience and understanding of Lagosians for their continued cooperation as the city celebrates its vibrant culture with music, dance, and colorful parades. The Fanti Carnival promises to bring energy and entertainment to the heart of Lagos, turning the streets into a festive spectacle.
