LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- A wave of controversy has engulfed Nigerian relationship therapist Blessing Okoro, aka Blessing CEO, following accusations that she misled the public over a high-profile cancer fundraising campaign, with critics demanding proof and refunds.
Blessing CEO has now pushed back at her critics, insisting they would not understand her medical test results even if she made them public, while maintaining that all contributions were given voluntarily without any pressure.
The social media personality had earlier announced she was battling stage 4 cancer, shaved her head and auctioned her wigs while appealing for financial support.
Her emotional disclosure sparked sympathy, with fans and supporters contributing generously toward her treatment.
Reports estimate that she received about ₦141 million in donations meant to cover a mastectomy and chemotherapy.
However, doubts soon emerged as critics questioned the authenticity of her diagnosis and demanded medical proof.
The situation escalated further when blogger Cutie Juls allegedly released a histopathology report said to belong to another patient, Deborah Mbara, a former client of the therapist treated for breast cancer in 2023. This fueled claims that the therapist edited the report to include her name.

In response, Blessing CEO addressed the controversy during a livestream with media personality Daddy Freeze, explaining that her diagnosis was confirmed in January.
She noted that at the time of her appeal, she did not yet have a full estimate of treatment costs and sought financial support to prepare for unexpected expenses.
Public figures quickly weighed in. Social critic VeryDarkMan warned that if the claims were proven false, she would have to refund his donations or “learn the hard way.” Similarly, influencer Oil Money reportedly issued a legal notice demanding the return of his ₦20 million contribution within seven days.
Despite mounting pressure, she has firmly denied any wrongdoing. In a video shared online, Blessing CEO criticized her detractors, arguing that many lack the knowledge to interpret medical results or understand the realities of cancer.
“If I show you the result, can you interpret it, you wey no go school. Most of you that are making mouth did not bring one kobo… A lot of people commenting on my post are ignorant about cancer. The only people who can understand are people who have gone through it. Even if I paste my result now, you can’t read it…,” Blessing CEO said.
She also responded directly to refund demands from VeryDarkMan, suggesting repayment would not be immediate.
“If VDM wan collect him money na for installment na. Him go wait make I sell hair and cloth give am back him money,” she stated.
Legal threats and public criticism continue to build, while activists including King Mitchy have joined calls for accountability. Despite this, Blessing CEO maintains that donations were voluntarily given without any form of coercion and she is ready for any legal challenge.
