Lagos Police Deploy Massive Security Ahead Of Easter Celebrations

LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Lagos State Police Command has intensified security across the state with widespread deployment of officers to ensure a safe Easter celebration for residents.

In a statement by the Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, released through the command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, he assured residents of adequate security across the state to maintain law and order before, during, and after the Easter celebrations.

According to Tijani, a detailed and proactive security plan has been put in place to guarantee a peaceful and smooth festive period.

He explained that officers have been strategically deployed to key locations such as churches, recreational centres, highways, transport hubs, and other public spaces.

Furthermore, the police said special focus has been placed on riverine areas, where Marine Police units have been assigned to boost surveillance and patrol activities along waterways.

“Special attention has been given to riverine communities, with the Marine Police positioned for enhanced surveillance and patrol to prevent criminal activities and ensure safety along the waterways. The police is working closely with relevant agencies to implement effective traffic management measures aimed at ensuring the free flow of traffic throughout the festive period,” he said.

Meanwhile, the commissioner extended Easter greetings to Christians, encouraging them to embrace values such as love, sacrifice, and peaceful coexistence during the season.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, while highlighting the role of residents in supporting security efforts through cooperation with law enforcement.

Furthermore, Tijani urged members of the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activities or individuals to the authorities.

He advised residents to use the command’s emergency lines, including, 0706 101 9374, 0806 515 4338, 0806 329 9264, 0803 934 4870, and 0916 863 0929 for quick response and information sharing.

The police command reiterated that it remains fully prepared to respond to any security challenges, with officers on standby to ensure that the Easter period is celebrated without disruption across Lagos State.
