ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, dismissing claims that he was planted to destabilise the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and describing the governor as inconsistent and unreliable.
Wike, who spoke during an inspection of ongoing road construction projects across Abuja, said Mohammed’s allegations were “very embarrassing” and accused him of frequently contradicting himself.
“It is very embarrassing. He tells you one thing today, he says one thing in the morning, and in the afternoon, he says a different thing. Bala, we are very happy that you told Nigerians who you are, that you are never stable,” Wike said.
The FCT minister further alleged that the Bauchi governor had previously attempted to align with the All Progressives Congress (APC), recalling a 2022 visit to Port Harcourt where Mohammed allegedly lobbied for President Bola Tinubu before later backing PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
He also faulted Mohammed’s recent moves within the PDP, particularly his demand for the party’s National Secretary position, describing it as a push coming from “a position of weakness.”
“You are already conquered, you lost. You are talking with a weak point, and you want to demand the secretary? That is not done,” Wike said.
Wike questioned Mohammed’s engagement with the President over internal party issues, arguing that it was inappropriate to seek external intervention in PDP affairs.

“It is very embarrassing. He said he went to see Mr President three times. What did he go and see Mr President for? How will somebody in another party solve your own problem in another party?” he queried.
Dismissing claims that he had been planted to weaken the PDP, Wike said many of those who previously made similar accusations had since defected to the APC.
“This accusation of me being planted; they have always accused me, but all those who accused me, where are they now? They have moved to APC. So who now has told the truth?” he asked.
Despite the ongoing internal disputes, Wike maintained that the PDP remained “alive and kicking” and reaffirmed his commitment to the party, even as he continues to support President Tinubu.
“I have said I will not leave the PDP. I have said that I will continue to support Mr President, that has been my position from 2022 to 2023,” he said.
Earlier, Wike had inspected major road projects handled by CGC, Arab Contractors, and Gilmor, including the Airport Road–Kuje junction and several interchanges, expressing satisfaction with the pace of work.
He assured that all projects would be completed and inaugurated by May 2026 to mark the third anniversary of Tinubu’s administration, while also commending contractors for providing alternative routes to ease movement for residents.
The Bauchi governor had, on Tuesday, accused Wike of being used to destroy the PDP, alleging that the FCT minister had taken control of key party structures.
