ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, on Thursday vowed that perpetrators of the deadly attack in Plateau State would be brought to justice, declaring the killings unacceptable.

Disu made the pledge during a visit to the Government House in Jos, where he met with Governor Caleb Mutfwang following the Sunday night attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area.

Describing the incident as tragic, the police boss assured that security forces were already intensifying efforts to track down those responsible.

He disclosed that the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, Umar Nadada, had earlier been deployed to the state to assess the situation and coordinate security operations with other agencies.

The IGP also commiserated with the Plateau State Government and families of victims affected by the attack, pledging sustained police presence to prevent further violence.

Responding, Governor Mutfwang expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu and security chiefs for their support, voicing confidence that the state would overcome its long-standing security challenges.

The governor noted that insecurity in Plateau predates his administration, recalling that past leaders such as Joshua Dariye, Jonah Jang and Simon Lalong also faced similar crises.

“It is when you sit on this seat that you appreciate the magnitude of the problem,” he said.

Mutfwang urged residents to remain vigilant and warned against spreading unverified information on social media, noting that misinformation often fuels tension.

He also announced stricter enforcement of the ban on commercial motorcycles, which authorities have linked to criminal activities, and promised improvements in the state’s transport system.

According to the governor, security agencies are already working on actionable intelligence from the Angwan Rukuba attack as efforts continue to restore peace in the troubled areas.
