LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Afrobeats sensation Omah Stanley Didia, popularly known as Omah Lay, confidently asserted his dominance in the music industry, naming himself the top Nigerian artist of the past two decades while placing Burna Boy as his only close rival.
During a recent appearance on the Nando Leaks podcast, the “Soso” crooner declared himself the best Nigerian artist in the last 20 years.
The singer pointed to his artistic depth as his defining strength, suggesting that while he may not prioritize elaborate visuals, his focus remains firmly on the quality and emotional impact of his music.
“I am the best in this shit, I dont wanna be bragging too much, I am the best when you put the whole Afrobeats category. I am not the strongest when it comes to visual maybe it due to my personality, I don’t know. But when it comes to the art of making music, I am the best in the last 20 years,” he said.

While declaring himself the “greatest” among the rest, Omah Lay acknowledged one peer he considers worthy of comparison, Grammy-winning artist Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy.
Even then, he maintained that his creative edge sets him apart and he finds it disrespectful when compared to others.
“The only person I sometimes put myself with is Burna Boy. Burna is talented. Apart from Burna, it is me, even with Burna too, it is just me. I feel some type of way when they put me with all these other artists in the same categories. No, don’t do that, I’m the greatest,” he added.
The bold declaration has since ignited intense debate across social media, with fans weighing in on his place among Afrobeats heavyweights, especially amid the ongoing “Big 3” conversation featuring Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy.
