LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- A fresh controversy is unfolding in Nollywood as actor and producer Olaide Olabanji publicly accused actress Mercy Aigbe of betrayal, ingratitude, and personal hostility, alleging her attitude changed after he played a role in her rise to fame.
In a revealing interview with media personality Oyinmomo, Olabanji recounted his alleged role in launching Aigbe’s acting career, claiming he discovered her in 2004 and gave her an opportunity in the movie industry. However, he now says their relationship has deteriorated beyond repair.
“I brought Mercy Aigbe into the movie industry. I saw her in a shop in 2004 and asked her if she could act. She said yes, and I put her on. But now she is blocking me. To her, it is as if I should no longer exist,” he said.

According to Olabanji, the actress attitude changed after she achieved success. He described her current behavior as distant and unrecognizable compared to the person he once knew.
The producer alleged that encounters with Aigbe have become tense, with the actress reportedly reacting negatively whenever she sees him or even his image.
Furthermore, the filmmaker did not hold back in expressing his disappointment, going as far as accusing Aigbe of harboring extreme resentment toward him.
He claimed that her feelings have escalated to the point where she allegedly wishes him harm.
Despite the weight of these allegations, Aigbe has yet to publicly respond, leaving fans and industry observers watching closely for her side of the story.
