ABUJA, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has deployed more than 57,000 personnel nationwide ahead of the Easter celebrations to enhance security and ensure a peaceful holiday period.
The Commandant General of the NSCDC, Abubakar Audi, authorised the nationwide mobilisation, which includes specialised tactical units and intelligence operatives assigned to safeguard lives, property, and critical national assets.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Corps’ National Public Relations Officer, Afolabi Babawale, the deployment spans all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory as part of proactive efforts to curb potential security threats during the festive period.
He explained that high-traffic areas such as churches, shopping malls, parks, and recreational centres would be closely monitored, with both visible patrols and undercover operatives in place to deter criminal activities.

Babawale said, “In anticipation of the upcoming Easter celebrations, the Commandant General of the NSCDC has sanctioned the mobilisation of over 57,000 officers.
This massive deployment, which includes specialised tactical units and intelligence operatives, is designed to fortify national security and guarantee a peaceful holiday period for all citizens.
The strategic operation spans all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. It serves as a proactive measure to address potential security threats while ensuring the absolute protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure.”
Following the directive of the Commandant General, Zonal Commanders, State Commandants, and Provosts of Colleges have been tasked with coordinating comprehensive security operations within their respective areas.
“Our goal is a seamless and secure Easter season. We are working hand-in-hand with sister agencies to maintain order. I also urge parents and guardians to guide their children properly, ensuring they are not manipulated into engaging in activities that could disrupt public peace,” he said.
He stressed the importance of heightened vigilance, efficient intelligence sharing, and prompt response to public reports, noting that collaboration with other security agencies would be crucial to the success of the operation.
Babawale added that the corps has placed its specialised units, including the CG’s Special Intelligence Squad, Mining Marshals, Special Female Squad, and the Crack Squad, on maximum alert to swiftly respond to any security threats.
The NSCDC advised members of the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activities to the nearest security agency during the Easter period.
