LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Rapper Aboriomoh Femi Raymond, known popularly as Dremo, has publicly revealed the reasons behind his departure from Davido Music Worldwide (DMW), accusing the label of prioritizing its CEO over other signed talents.
In a candid interview on the Echo Room podcast hosted by Teddy A, Dremo disclosed that management’s attention on Davido often left other artists sidelined with limited opportunities. According to him, signees under the label could not collaborate because they were all too busy making their own way in the industry.
“I didn’t collaborate with Idowest who was my label mate and fellow rapper because at that time we were all striving to stay afloat in the music industry. Even DMW as a whole didn’t collaborate much, we never had a record label album. The management focused only on Davido,” he explained.

Dremo also revealed that his expectations for financial and career support were not met. He described the record label more as a “platform” than a traditional record deal, pointing out that Davido’s influence made it challenging for other artists to gain attention or resources.
“The label [DMW] didn’t give me money. It was like a platform. I didn’t get what I wanted from the label,” Dremo noted.
Due to his experience, the rapper confirmed that he chose to remain independent to fully control his career.
Dremo signed with DMW on April 5, 2016, joining other original signees such as Mayorkun. His exit, which followed the expiration of his contract in 2020, became widely known between 2022 and 2023.
Despite the professional split, Dremo emphasized that he still maintains a positive relationship with Davido, acknowledging him as a mentor who influenced his career.
