ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed security and intelligence agencies to act swiftly on early warning signals to prevent further attacks, following deadly incidents in Plateau and Kaduna states.
The President issued the directive while condemning the twin assaults in Angwan Rukuba, Jos, and Kahir village in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, describing them as “barbaric and cowardly.”
In Plateau, gunmen attacked residents on Sunday night, killing nearly 30 people and injuring several others. On the same night in Kaduna, suspected bandits stormed a wedding venue in Kahir village, leaving about 13 persons dead and abducting 28 others.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu stressed the need for intelligence-driven security operations.
“I urge our security agencies to be more proactive in preventing these attacks by acting on early warning intelligence. All the remaining abductees from Kahir village must be rescued immediately,” he said.
The President warned that such attacks were not only aimed at causing harm but also at triggering reprisals and deepening insecurity.

“Anyone who will sneak under the cover of the night and kill defenceless citizens is a heartless coward. By attacking soft targets their objective is not only to cause harm but also trigger a spiral of reprisal attacks and further bloodletting,” he stated.
Tinubu assured Nigerians that perpetrators would be brought to justice, adding that security agencies had been tasked with intensifying efforts to track down attackers and curb the spread of misinformation capable of escalating tensions.
He also cautioned the media against framing the incidents along religious lines, urging responsible reporting to avoid fuelling division.
The President disclosed that the Federal Government was investing in more sophisticated equipment to enhance real-time tracking and neutralisation of criminal elements.
He commended Caleb Mutfwang and Uba Sani for their roles in managing the crises in their respective states, while expressing sympathy with victims and their families.
“I assure the people and governments of the two states of my support. I commiserate with the families of those killed and pray for the quick recovery of the injured,” Tinubu added.
