ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The newly elected Deputy National Chairman (South) of the All Progressives Congress, Benjamin Obiora Nwoye, has officially assumed office at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, pledging to promote healing and reconciliation within the party.

Nwoye arrived at the secretariat on Monday after appearing on a Channels Television programme in Asokoro, Abuja, accompanied by a large number of supporters who chanted victory songs as he was ushered into his office located on the first floor, Wing B of the APC national headquarters.

The former Enugu State APC caretaker committee chairman was elected into the position last Saturday during the party’s 8th National Convention held at Eagle Square, Abuja.

Addressing party members and supporters at the conference room, Nwoye expressed gratitude for the support he received before and after the convention, promising an inclusive leadership style.

“We are going to embrace inclusive and not exclusive style of leadership. There will be no room for that under my watch,” he said.

He assured that he would not take the confidence reposed in him for granted, stressing that the period of campaigns was over and that it was time to unite all members, regardless of political differences.

“Campaign is all over. We are going to embrace those that supported us and those that did not. It’s all about politics, and I don’t hold any grudge against anyone. Let’s embrace each other,” he added.

Nwoye, who succeeded Chief Emma Enukwu, noted that victory should not be seen as superiority but as an act of God and favour.

He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing an enabling environment for what he described as a peaceful and successful convention, pledging that party leaders would work to ensure his re-election in 2027.

Describing Tinubu as a visionary leader, Nwoye said APC stakeholders would do everything possible to support his administration’s goals.

He further appreciated Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, for mobilising delegates from the state, noting that the governor demonstrated strong leadership.

“I want to assure our party faithful that now is time for healing and total reconciliation. As we move forward, we shall work tirelessly to reposition our great party in Southern Nigeria for greater success,” he said.

Other APC stakeholders who spoke at the event included the South-East Women Leader, Mrs Oby Ajih; former Federal Character Commission representative, Ambassador Ginika Williams; and Nwoye’s Chief of Staff, Timothy Amah.
