ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The All Progressives Congress (APC), in Oyo State has declared that the performance and leadership style of President Bola Tinubu have demonstrated his capacity to lead Nigeria beyond 2027.

The party made this known on Sunday in a congratulatory message marking Tinubu’s 74th birthday, noting that his actions over the past 34 months in office reflect competence, courage, and a clear vision for national development.

In a statement issued in Ibadan by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, the APC said the President has shown the character and leadership required to reposition Nigeria for stability, prosperity, and greatness.

“He has demonstrated the capacity, competence, and character required to fix the country and set it on the path of greatness, stability, and prosperity,” the statement read.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to Tinubu’s second-term ambition and the full implementation of his Renewed Hope Agenda, describing him as a courageous and result-oriented leader dedicated to the progress of the nation.

While acknowledging that many Nigerians would have preferred elaborate celebrations for the President’s birthday, the party noted that it respected his directive against fanfare in view of the prevailing national mood.

“An average Nigerian appreciates the fact that President Tinubu deserves to be celebrated for rekindling the hope of a stronger, better, and more promising Nigeria, but we chose not to roll out the drums in celebration of Mr President’s birthday in compliance with his directive,” the APC stated.

“We are proud of him as a passionate and result-oriented leader who means well for Nigeria and Nigerians.”

The party also used the occasion to commend its national leadership for successfully organising its recent convention in Abuja, describing it as a milestone that completed the party’s 2026 congress cycle.

In a related development, the APC cautioned members of the public and party faithful against circulating unverified information regarding candidates for the 2027 general elections.

It dismissed as false and misleading a purported list of candidates for Oyo State currently trending on social media, warning that those behind the misinformation risk facing consequences.

According to Sadare, the party has already launched an investigation into the source of the fake list, which it described as provocative and capable of causing confusion within its ranks.

“As it stands now, we do not have any aspirant or candidate list for 2027 because it is not yet time for the expression of interest, nomination, and party primaries,” he added.5
