LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Nigeria Police Force has arrested a suspect linked to the killing of an 18-year-old boy during a violent confrontation in Owo, Ondo State.
Police identified the suspect as Johnson Daniel, who is accused of stabbing Ariyo Amos Timilehin to death following an argument earlier this month. According to the command’s spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh, the incident occurred on March 6, 2026, in the Owo area of the state.
“The command has confirmed the arrest of a suspect in connection with the alleged murder of Ariyo Amos Timilehin following a violent altercation in Owo on March 6, 2026,” Jimoh said in a statement released in Akure.
Investigators said the victim was allegedly stabbed during an argument with the suspect. Although emergency efforts to save the teenager were made, he passed away enroute the Federal Medical Centre Owo.

“Timilehin was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owo, where he was confirmed dead on arrival by a medical doctor,” the police spokesperson stated.
Following the news, police detectives visited the scene of the incident where they recovered the knife believed to have been used in the attack and apprehended the suspect. Meanwhile, authorities have transferred the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further probe.
“The case has, since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation,” Jimoh added, while expressing sympathy to the bereaved family.
Preliminary community accounts revealed that the victim and the suspect were reportedly close friends who were often seen together in the neighbourhood, making the fatal clash even more shocking to residents.
While urging the public to resolve disagreements peacefully, the police maintained that investigation into the deadly altercation continues.
