LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA) – Nollywood star Rotimi Salami has shared a deeply personal perspective on paternity, revealing that a DNA test result would not change the bond he has built with a child he raised as his own.
During a recent interview with BBC Yoruba, the actor addressed the sensitive subject of DNA testing and fatherhood. Salami explained that emotional connection and years of upbringing carry far more weight than genetic proof.
According to him, discovering through a DNA test that a child is not biologically his would not lead him to withdraw the love and responsibility he has already given.

“If DNA says my child isn’t mine, and I have taken the child from infancy as mine, and the child also knows me as his father, I will wholeheartedly accept the child as mine,” he said.
Furthermore, Salami stressed that the child should never bear the consequences of circumstances they had no control over. In his view, the relationship built through years of care and guidance is not something that can simply be erased by a medical result.
The actor also pointed out that any issue arising from such a discovery would remain strictly between him and his spouse, rather than affecting the child who has always known him as a father figure.
“The child will claim my name forever and also see me as his father, because it’s not the child that created himself or herself. The issue will only be between me and my wife,” he concluded.
