ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The All Progressives Congress (APC) has assured party members, delegates and residents of Abuja of a secure and hitch-free atmosphere during its National Convention scheduled for March 27 and 28.

The assurance came during the inaugural meeting of the convention’s security committee held in Abuja, where the chairman and Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa (retd), said the party was leaving nothing to chance in safeguarding thousands of delegates, government officials and international observers expected at the high-profile gathering.

Musa said the committee was adopting a proactive approach to security management, noting that the scale and importance of the convention demanded a comprehensive and professionally coordinated framework.

According to him, the committee’s core mandate is to identify and neutralise potential threats ahead of the event to ensure a smooth and orderly process.

He explained that the security architecture would be fully integrated, bringing together all relevant intelligence and law-enforcement agencies to guarantee seamless coordination.

“The goal is to create an orderly and secure environment that reflects the stature of the APC as a national institution,” Musa said.

A key highlight of the meeting was the emphasis on strong inter-agency collaboration.

The minister stressed that the success of the security arrangement would depend largely on the ability of security and intelligence agencies to harmonise their capabilities into a unified operational structure.

“Our approach must be preventive rather than reactive,” Musa said, urging committee members to maintain professionalism, vigilance and discipline in executing their assignments.

He noted that the convention represents a critical platform for the ruling party to renew its leadership and reinforce its development agenda, making the safety of participants a strategic priority.

The security committee, he said, has also been tasked with conducting a detailed assessment of possible vulnerabilities and designing a comprehensive operational plan to guarantee the safety of everyone attending the event, including media personnel and high-ranking dignitaries.

Musa expressed confidence in the competence and dedication of members of the committee, saying their collective expertise would ensure the successful conduct of the convention.

He added that with proper coordination and preventive planning, the APC National Convention would proceed smoothly and safely for all participants.
