LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Cynosure Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Hospital has pushed back against claims that a disturbing viral video showing late influencer Jessica Elena screaming during a cosmetic procedure that tragically claimed her life was recorded inside its clinic.
Graphic clips circulating online allegedly captured the influencer in severe pain during a botched surgery, after she went for a second Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedure.
Following online outrage and speculations that the procedure took place at the Lagos-based cosmetic surgery facility, management of the hospital publicly distanced itself from the story. In a statement posted on its official Instagram page, the hospital said it is aware of the video being widely shared across social platforms but stressed that the recording did not originate from its operating theatre and urged the public to stop resharing the footage for the sake of her loved ones.

“Cynosure Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Hospital is aware of a video circulating on social media showing a patient screaming during a surgical procedure, which is being falsely attributed to our facility. We state clearly: this video was not recorded at our clinic and we do not know the location of the facility where it occurred,” the hospital management said, with a caption “Setting the record straight.”
According to a new public notice shared by the clinic through their solicitors, they urged blogs, content creators, and online human rights advocates to refrain from posting “false, malicious, defamatory and disparaging” publications aimed at damaging their reputation.
They clarified that Elena was referred from their facility on February 19, to a multi-specialist tertiary healthcare in Mushin, Lagos, for “further specialist continuity of care and medical management.” According to them, she was moved from the facility to another where she sadly lost her life.

Therefore, they warned the general public to stop sharing footage and photos linking Cynosure Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Hospital to the tragic passing of the deceased, Nkwopara Jessica Elena. The hospital’s solicitors promised legal action against defaulters, citing criminal complaint under the Cybercrime Amendment Act 2024.
They insist that all posts with defamatory links to them be taken down within 24 hours across all platforms, stating “our client will not hesitate to ventilate its grievances in a Court of competent jurisdiction with substantial cost.”
Calls for clarity continue to grow online while discussions about cosmetic surgery safety intensify across social media. The hospital maintained that separating verified facts from viral speculation remains crucial, noting that full cooperation with any formal investigation would help determine where the procedure shown in the disturbing video was carried out and ensure those responsible are held accountable to prevent further harm.
