(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Mrs Bola Jegede, daughter of the late former Super Eagles Head Coach, Adegboye Onigbinde, has expressed grief over her father’s death, describing the loss as a major void for the family.

Jegede, the second child of the deceased, said this in a chat with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday at the Onigbinde’s residence in Modakeke, Ife East Local Government Area of Osun.

She said that her father lived a fulfilled and impactful life, contributing immensely to Nigerian football and the global sporting community.

Jegede described the former technical director of the Super Eagles as “a devoted father, loving, caring, great adviser and disciplinarian.”

She said her father died at about 7:30p.m on Monday while preparations were ongoing to admit him at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife.

She explained that before the former Super Eagles coach succumbed to death, he had been ill for two weeks after suffering a partial stroke, for which doctors and a physiotherapist had been treating him.

Jegede said that details of the burial arrangements would be announced by the family in due course.

Similarly, the deceased’s cousin, Mr Mathew Onigbinde, described his death as a great loss to the family, stating that the vacuum left by the Super Eagles coach could “only be filled by God.”

He described the late coach as a nice, accommodating and generous man.

NAN reports that a condolence register has been opened at the deceased’s residence.

In his reaction, Moshood Oni, the Palace Secretary to the Ogunsua of Modakeke, Oba Joseph Toriola, told NAN that the palace was waiting for official notification from the Onigbinde’s family.
