LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)-Nollywood actor and filmmaker Segun Ogungbe, has publicly addressed long-standing rumours about his personal life, clarifying misconceptions surrounding his wife and fellow actress Wunmi Ajiboye.
The movie producer insisted that reports suggesting both women shared a close relationship were entirely false.
During a recent interview appearance, Ogungbe explained that the narrative portraying his wife, Atinuke Ogungbe, and Ajiboye as friends had circulated widely on social media but never reflected reality. According to the actor, the story originated online and gained traction after being picked up by blogs.
He emphasized that the two women were never close from the beginning.
“My wife and my babymama were never friends. The rumour of them being friends was a lie that was generated from social media,” he said.

Providing further context, the actor alleged that the claim was started by a female admirer who had repeatedly expressed interest in marrying him. Ogungbe said the situation escalated after she learned he had fathered a child outside his marriage.
“Someone who admired me and wanted me to marry her did it. She had always been on my neck to marry her, but I said I would never get married to more than one wife,” he explained.
He added that the woman had previously supported some of his film projects financially, which made the situation more complicated when the news surfaced. Ogungbe maintained that the alleged frustration prompted the admirer to spread claims online that his wife and Ajiboye were friends, a story that quickly spread across entertainment blogs.
“I got someone else pregnant outside of wedlock, and when she heard, she got really pissed because she often assisted me financially when I had movie projects to do. She got pissed and went online to say that my wife and baby mama were friends, and blogs picked it up from there. It’s not true,” he stated.
The clarification comes amid continued public interest in the personal lives of Nollywood stars, with Ogungbe stressing that the widely circulated story misrepresented the true nature of the relationships involved.
