ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Four men have been arrested in the United Kingdom on suspicion of assisting Iran’s intelligence service by allegedly spying on locations and individuals linked to London’s Jewish community.
The arrests were carried out on Friday by counterterrorism officers of the Metropolitan Police at three separate addresses across the British capital.
According to police, the suspects include one Iranian national and three individuals with dual British-Iranian citizenship.
The Metropolitan Police said the arrests formed part of an ongoing investigation into suspected espionage activities connected to Iran.
Head of Counter Terrorism Policing, Helen Flanagan, described the development as part of a long-running probe.

“We understand the public may be concerned, in particular the Jewish community, and as always, I would ask them to remain vigilant and if they see or hear anything that concerns them, then to contact us,” she said.
Police also disclosed that six other men were arrested at one of the locations on suspicion of assisting an offender. They have been taken into custody as investigations continue.
Security agencies in Britain have repeatedly raised concerns about activities linked to Iran within the country.
In October, the Director-General of MI5, Ken McCallum, revealed that British security services had uncovered more than 20 potentially lethal Iran-backed plots in the previous year.
Individuals reportedly targeted in such operations include Iranian dissidents and journalists living in the United Kingdom.
