LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- In a dramatic twist that has reignited public conversations, founder of Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry, Pastor Chris Okafor, has withdrawn the apology he previously offered to actress Doris Ogala and other women he claimed to have wronged.
The move comes amid escalating scrutiny over allegations that first prompted his December 2025 apology.
A viral video captured the clergyman during a recent church service, insisting that his initial apology had been widely misinterpreted. He revealed that he acted under pressure from senior figures in the faith community, specifically Matthew Ashimolowo and David Abioye.
“The reason why I came to apologize the last time was that the fathers of faith that stood by me were being dragged. And I didn’t want them to be dragged into it,” he said.
Clarifying further, Pastor Okafor added, “There is no single apology to that person because I don’t apologize for what I did not know, for what I did not do, for what I did not get involved in. For somebody I don’t know and somebody I have not met face to face.”

The controversy traces back to claims made by Ms Ogala, who accused Okafor of breaking a marriage promise, sharing videos of her miscarriage, and possessing an intimate sex tape. She further alleged that the cleric’s subsequent marriage was destined to fail. The dispute intensified following Ms Ogala’s arrest and an ultimatum demanding that the pastor retract what he called blackmail claims.
Despite the ongoing legal battle, Okafor stressed that his clarification should not be seen as an explanation to the public.
“It is not noise that is being made on social media. The reality is what we show at the right time,” he said, emphasizing that truth, not perception, would eventually prevail.
He described his prior apology as a strategic decision, saying, “At times, one must concede a battle to win the war. I knelt down because of those fathers and the church, not because of any Jezebel anywhere. Everything that was said was not true.”
The preacher also noted that he could not apologize on matters currently before the courts and urged anyone with evidence against him to present it legally. Okafor insisted that the court will determine the outcome, and in the end, the truth will be revealed.
“The matter is before the court. My evidence has been put before the court. Whoever claims to have evidence, bring it before the court. It’s no story, so I’m not joining the issue. When the court decides, we will know what is true and who is lying. It’s as simple as that,” he declared.
As the drama unfolds, Ms Ogala has yet to publicly respond to Mr Okafor’s retraction, leaving fans and followers of both figures closely watching the legal and social media fallout.
