LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Global music icon Angélique Kidjo has unveiled that her long-awaited album Hope!!, a heartfelt tribute to her late mother Yvonne, arrives l 24 featuring collaborations with major international stars.

Hope!!, is a record created as a tribute to her late mother, Yvonne Kidjo, a renowned choreographer and theater director in Ouidah, who played a pivotal role in shaping Kidjo’s early exposure to music and the performing arts.

The five-time Beninese Grammy winner described the album as one of her most personal projects yet. Sharing the minimalistic cover art on her official social media pages, the singer unveiled a stark white background featuring the word “Hope!!” and a portrait of herself smiling with pride.

Set for release on April 24, the album took five years to complete and blends vibrant African rhythms with global sounds. The project also features an impressive lineup of collaborators, including Pharrell Williams, Nile Rodgers, Ayra Starr, Davido, the Soweto Gospel Choir, Quavo, Fally Ipupa, Diamond Platnumz, The Cavemen, and several other international talents.

While the tracklist remains under wraps, the “Hope!!” era is expected to feature collaborations that honor the artistic standards set by her late mother.

Beyond its star power, Hope!! carries deep emotional significance for Kidjo who revealed that the project was inspired by the life lessons passed down from Yvonne, whose Yoruba wisdom from Nigeria shaped the optimistic message behind the album. Her mother, who died five years ago at the age of 94, remains central to the project’s spirit.

On her official Facebook page, Kidjo wrote,
“🧡5 years in the making 🧡 : my new album HOPE!! dedicated to my mother Yvonne is coming out on April 24th. She is the one who taught me that every dream I had could be accomplished, that HOPE for a better future is what makes us human. She left us 5 years ago but her message resonates to this very day.

I put my whole heart into this album and I’m so GRATEFUL to all the great artists who have contributed their genius to the album… I can’t wait for you to bear it!”

Strategic anticipation for the release is building within the international jazz and world music communities, particularly following her recent “Hope” themed performances in Europe. Meanwhile, anticipation continues to build among fans worldwide, many of whom have already begun placing pre-orders for the album, which is now available in formats including signed vinyl editions, CDs, and special collector’s bundle packages.

Kidjo’s upcoming release underscores her enduring impact on global music while celebrating a legacy rooted in family, culture, and resilience. The album stands as both a personal memorial and a message of optimism destined to resonate with listeners across continents.
