LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)– Nollywood star Yul Edochie has ignited fresh controversy after publicly calling out Arise Television anchor Rufai Oseni in a viral video.
In the clip, the actor questions the broadcaster’s credibility while defending Bola Ahmed Tinubu amid ongoing political debates. Edochie revisited a past traffic incident involving Oseni in Lagos.
Referring to reports that the journalist was once caught driving on a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lane, Edochie challenged his moral standing to interrogate public officials on national television.
“Is this not the same Rufai Oseni that was caught driving on BRT lane?” Edochie asked in the footage. He continued, “When officials caught you, instead of apologizing, you were shouting, ‘Do you know who I am? I’m going to call the governor of Lagos State.”
According to the actor, the broadcaster only issued an apology after a video of the incident surfaced online.
“If not because somebody had a video, you could not even apologize. If there was no video, what would have happened?” he said.

Beyond the traffic controversy, Edochie took aim at Oseni’s interviewing style on Arise TV, accusing him of being confrontational with guests. He questioned the presenter’s approach to handling discussions, particularly when tensions rise in the studio.
“How can you invite somebody and make the guest uncomfortable? If a guest is not comfortable, the first thing you do is apologise and make the guest feel at ease. How can you tell a guest that if they’re not comfortable, they are free to walk out of the studio?” Edochie queried.
Doubling down, the actor alleged that the broadcaster’s tone crosses professional boundaries, saying, “You are insulting people on national TV. You’re a very disrespectful person. That is not journalism,” he stated.
Shifting focus to national politics, Edochie also voiced strong support for President Tinubu, urging critics to show respect for the office and allow the administration time to deliver on its mandate.
“Jagaban President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the President of Nigeria, whether you like it or not. He is our President, you must respect him. The man just came in. Give him time. Rome was not built in a day,” he added.
The fiery exchange has since sparked heated reactions online, with supporters and critics weighing in on both sides. While neither Oseni nor Arise Television has formally responded at the time of reporting, the controversy continues to grow.
