ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State on Tuesday concluded its state congress, marking the handover of a ruling party to newly elected executives.
The outgoing Caretaker Committee Chairman, Barr. Ben Nwoye in his speech described the moment as the culmination of a journey that began with uncertainty but ended in unity.
Addressing delegates and party faithful, Nwoye said the committee’s mandate to reconcile differences, rebuild trust, and harmonise interests had been accomplished.
He said, “All splinter groups have been united under one big, indivisible broom. Those who joined us from the PDP were welcomed and integrated. We chose inclusion over exclusion, dialogue over division, and unity over personal ambition.”
Nwoye attributed the success of the exercise to the leadership of Governor Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, describing him as the “rock on which APC stands solid in Enugu today.”
“His guidance, wisdom and steady leadership made the entire process seamless. He provided the direction, the support and the enabling environment that allowed this reconciliation and rebuilding process to succeed. Your Excellency, we are deeply grateful”, he added.
He also commended the Enugu State Commissioner for Science and Innovation, Prince Lawrence Ezeh, for providing vehicles that facilitated the committee’s work.

He praised the seventeen Local Government Chairmen for their role in mobilising communities during the party’s digital registration exercise, calling their support “instrumental to the success of the process.”
He also acknowledged the cooperation of the Chief of Staff, Barr. Victor Udeh, and Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, noting that their assistance made the committee’s task manageable.
According to Nwoye, over 6,000 executives had been elected across wards, local governments, and districts, and the congress represents the final layer of a structured and orderly process.
“Today, we stand on a united and progressive platform, one poised to sweep all elections in this state,” he said, highlighting the APC’s goal of securing victory for President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, governor Mbah, and other elective positions across Enugu.
“As I bow out today as Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, I must specially thank the members of the committee who worked tirelessly with me. Your commitment, passion and dedication to the growth of our great party will continue to speak for you long after today.
“To those who will be elected into office today, I say congratulations in advance. The responsibility before you is great, but so is the opportunity. With our dynamic governor providing leadership and direction, I am confident that you will raise the flag of the APC even higher in Enugu State.
Nwoye concluded by urging members to remain focused and united.
“Victory thrives where unity endures,” he said.
He also extended special appreciation to the members of the Caretaker Committee, praising their dedication and commitment throughout the process.
The congress was attended by top party leaders, state executives, Commissioners, INEC observers, and delegates from across the state, marking the official transition from caretaker leadership to substantive state exectives.
The newly elected executives are expected to begin work immediately to advance the APC’s agenda in the State.
