ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kenneth Okonkwo, has alleged that the recent Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections were conducted under an unknown law, questioning their legal foundation.
Speaking on Sunrise Daily, a programme on Channels Television, Okonkwo claimed that the gazetted copy of the Electoral Act 2026 had not been made public before the polls were held.
“Nigerians should not be carried away by what this dubious APC is doing. Up till now, the gazetted copy of the Electoral Act 2026 is not out,” he said.

The FCT Area Council elections, conducted on February 21, saw the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) win five of the six area councils, including the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC).
Okonkwo alleged that the governing party deliberately withheld the published law.
“APC is intentionally hiding everything so that Nigerians do not even understand until it is too late.
“The FCT election was conducted under an unknown law. And this is against the rule of law. Before you implement a law on the people, it must be publicly published,” he said.
His remarks add to the growing political debate surrounding the implementation of the Electoral Act 2026 and the conduct of recent elections in the FCT.
