LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nollywood actress and producer Victoria Akanke Ajibola, widely known as Omo Local, recently shared a deeply personal account of her struggle with depression and a suicide attempt during an interview on Oyinmomo TV.

The actress revealed that the attempt was driven by an overwhelming sense of shame and trauma after discovering that her husband and her close friend were expecting a child together while she herself was also pregnant.

According to Ajibola, the ordeal weighed on her as a “deep sense of shame” that eventually led her to a breaking point.

She revealed was five months into her pregnancy when she learned her best friend was already three months along with her husband’s child.

The staggering betrayal from her spouse and her closest confidante led to her divorce and a severe mental health emergency.

“I was five months pregnant, my best friend was also three months pregnant for my husband. The trauma was so much to the extent that I took poison because of shame,” she confessed, marking her first public admission of a suicide attempt during that dark period.

However, surviving that crisis became a significant turning point in her life.

She made the decision to leave the marriage to prioritize her well-being and her child, eventually severing all ties with those involved in the betrayal.

When questioned about the current status of the pair, Ajibola admitted she is no longer interested in their whereabouts, though she added that they expanded their family.

“Anyway, I don’t know about her whereabouts anymore. Maybe she’s still together with my ex-husband, I don’t know, but they had about three [children] together after I left,” she added.

For now, she now focuses on her work with Vicad Media and other initiatives, advocating for emotional healing and resilience.
