ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- President Donald Trump on Sunday claimed that United States military operations had sunk nine Iranian naval vessels and largely destroyed Iran’s navy headquarters amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
Writing on his Truth Social platform, Trump said he had been informed that American forces had “destroyed and sunk nine Iranian naval ships, some of them relatively large and important.”

He added that additional vessels were being targeted, stating, “We are going after the rest, they will soon be floating at the bottom of the sea, also! In a different attack, we largely destroyed their Naval Headquarters.”
The remarks come as hostilities intensify between Washington and Iran, though independent verification of the president’s claims was not immediately available.
U.S. officials have yet to provide detailed confirmation of the reported operations, while Iranian authorities had not issued an official response at the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, analysts have warned that further escalation could heighten instability in the region, with potential implications for maritime security and global oil markets.
