ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has begun a strategic visit to the United States aimed at attracting investment, strengthening bilateral trade ties and expanding development opportunities for the state.

The trip, officials said, aligns with Plateau State’s drive to deepen sub-national international engagement in line with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

During the visit, Mutfwang is scheduled to hold high-level engagements with key American institutions, including the United States Development Finance Corporation (DFC), the United States Export-Import Bank (EXIM), senior officials of the US State Department, as well as other policy and investment stakeholders.

The discussions are expected to focus on unlocking investment flows, boosting trade partnerships and advancing development initiatives capable of delivering economic benefits to Plateau State and Nigeria more broadly.

As part of his early engagements, the governor met with US Congressman Riley Moore, where talks centred on strengthening Nigeria–United States relations, particularly in economic cooperation, investment, security and democratic governance.

Mutfwang used the meeting to highlight the policy direction of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that the programme places priority on national security, economic stability and improved welfare for Nigerians.

He also pointed to what he described as growing gains in the fight against insurgency, attributing recent progress to decisive leadership and sustained commitment by the Federal Government.

Congressman Moore welcomed the governor’s visit and expressed interest in expanding cooperation between both countries. He reaffirmed his willingness to work with Nigerian authorities to deepen bilateral relations in ways that promote mutual economic and strategic interests.

In his response, Mutfwang thanked the United States Government for its continued support and partnership, while reaffirming Plateau State’s readiness to collaborate further in the areas of investment, development, security and people-to-people engagement.

The visit, according to officials, forms part of broader efforts by the Plateau State Government to position the state as an attractive destination for international partnerships and sustainable economic growth.
