ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Davos, Switzerland, to lead Nigeria’s delegation to the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF).
The high-level global economic gathering, which convenes political leaders, business executives and policy influencers from across the world, will hold from January 19 to 23, 2026.
Shettima arrived in Davos from Conakry, Guinea, where he represented President Bola Tinubu at the inauguration of Guinean leader President Mamadi Doumbouya on Friday.
A statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha, disclosed that the Vice President was received on arrival by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar; the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole; and officials of the Nigerian Mission in Switzerland.
Nigeria’s participation at this year’s forum marks a significant milestone, as the Federal Government has, for the first time, established a dedicated sovereign pavilion at the Davos Promenade.
The facility, known as “Nigeria House Davos,” was set up through a Public-Private Partnership and is designed to serve as a strategic hub for ministerial engagements, investment roundtables, policy dialogues and cultural diplomacy throughout the forum.

The Vice President is expected to formally commission Nigeria House Davos during the week-long event.
Speaking to journalists shortly after Shettima’s arrival, Dr Oduwole said Nigeria would make a strong case for investment opportunities during the launch of the pavilion.
“We will be showcasing four key playbooks on President Tinubu’s efforts at re-engineering the Nigerian economy,” she said.
“Our presentations will focus on solid minerals, climate sustainability, agriculture, as well as the creative and digital economy sectors, to investors from all over the world.”
According to Nkwocha, the Vice President will present Nigeria’s 2026 economic outlook to global leaders at the forum.
He is also scheduled to participate in plenary sessions and high-level discussions on the responsible deployment of Artificial Intelligence, quantum computing, and biotechnology.
Throughout the forum, Shettima is expected to hold a series of bilateral meetings with heads of state, executives of multinational corporations, and leaders of international development finance institutions.
The World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos typically attracts thousands of participants, including presidents, prime ministers, chief executives, civil society leaders and journalists from across the globe.
The 2026 edition of the forum is expected to focus on global economic headwinds, technological innovation, and climate action, as world leaders seek coordinated responses to emerging challenges.
