ABUJA, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-The Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy has entered into a landmark Memorandum of Understanding with the Abu Dhabi Ports Group to examine areas of strategic cooperation in port development, maritime logistics and digital solutions.
The Deputy Director and Head of Public Relations at the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Osagie Edward, disclosed this in a statement.
He said the agreement was signed on the sidelines of the recently concluded Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, describing it as a major step in strengthening Nigeria–United Arab Emirates economic ties.
“Abu Dhabi Ports Group and Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore strategic collaboration in ports development, maritime logistics, and digital solutions.

“The MoU was signed on the sidelines of the recently concluded Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria–UAE economic relations,” Osagie said.
He noted that the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, led the Nigerian delegation, while the Chairman of AD Ports Group, Mohamed Hassan, headed the company’s management team.
He added that the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of NIMASA, Dr Dayo Mobereola, was also in attendance.
According to Edward, the delegation later briefed President Bola Tinubu on the substance and strategic value of the agreement.
The MoU, which had been under discussion for more than two decades, is part of wider trade and investment engagements between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates, and its execution signals a renewed resolve by both nations to deepen collaboration in the maritime and blue economy sectors.
