LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Lagos State Government has ordered a postmortem examination into the deaths of nine-month-old identical twins, Testimony and Timothy Alozie, who reportedly died within 24 hours of receiving routine immunization at a primary health care centre.
The tragedy gained widespread attention after the twins’ father, Samuel Alozie, known on TikTok as Promise Samuel, shared emotional videos showing the bodies of his sons in separate body bags, while recounting the final hours before their deaths. His posts triggered outrage and calls for an official investigation.
In a follow-up video released on Thursday, Alozie said he took his sons for their scheduled immunization on the morning of December 24, 2025. According to him, the twins became unusually weak shortly after the injections were administered.
“They could not eat, they could not play, they could not even disturb as they used to. They were just weak,” he said.
Alozie explained that a nurse at the health centre advised him to administer paracetamol if the babies developed a fever. He said he and his wife followed the instruction and also bathed the twins in cold water, but their condition continued to deteriorate.
“It happened that the immunization was conducted on the 24th of December in the morning, and on the morning of 25th December, they died. On the 24th, after the injection, they were very weak… They died on the 25th. The two of them died at the same time,” he said.

The grieving father maintained that the twins had been healthy prior to the vaccination and that he had consistently ensured they received all routine immunizations from birth.
“I’m just confused. How can I lose two children, identical twins that I have suffered so much for? Just nine months, they were not sick. Just because I decided to fulfil the righteousness of taking them for immunization,” Alozie stated.
Raising further concerns, Alozie noted that the nurse who administered the last injections was not the regular health worker who usually attended to his children. He also rejected an initial explanation allegedly offered by staff at the facility that the deaths might have been caused by food contamination.
“The nurse is talking about bacteria, food bacteria. How can food bacteria kill a child? Food that I’ve been giving them from one month to nine months did not kill them,” he added perplexed.
Responding to the incident, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Ibrahim Mustafa, confirmed that both the police and the state government were investigating the matter and that a postmortem had been ordered to determine the cause of death.

“We sympathise with them and we understand the grief these parents will be going through. This particular vaccine has been given to many children before and after these kids, and nothing like this has been recorded,” Mustafa said.
He added that the twins bodies were deposited at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital morgue and assured the public that the findings would be disclosed once the examination is concluded.
“Once the postmortem findings are out, we will communicate appropriately,” he added.
Despite the assurances, Alozie said he fears the investigation could be compromised to protect the government-owned health facility. Describing the situation as “government to government,” he appealed for legal and human rights support.
“Please, if you are a lawyer, a human rights lawyer, help me. I don’t have money to fight this alone. I need justice for these children,” he pleaded.
The case has intensified public scrutiny of vaccine safety, and the postmortem findings are expected to be central to restoring public trust in the health system.
