LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- The gospel music community is set to bid a final farewell to Bunmi Akinnaanu, widely known as Omije Ojumi, following the release of burial arrangements for the beloved singer whose passing earlier this month sent waves of grief through faith circles.
Akinnaanu died on January 12 after a long and painful battle with a severe leg ailment, an illness that had sparked concern and prayer across church circles and among her fans nationwide. In the months leading up to her death, the singer had openly shared her health struggles, appealing for prayers and divine healing while continuing to inspire many with her faith-driven journey.
The burial programme was made public on Friday via Instagram by fellow gospel artiste Alayo Melody, who shared a commemorative flier outlining the series of events planned in her honour.

According to the announcement, tributes will commence on Tuesday, January 20, with a service of songs at the LTV 8 Ground in Ikeja, Lagos. Later that evening, a candlelight procession is scheduled for 7pm, followed by a tribute and artistes night at 8pm, expected to draw fellow musicians, worshippers and admirers.
The final interment service will hold on Wednesday, January 21, in a private ceremony restricted to family members and close associates, reflecting the family’s desire for an intimate farewell.

Beyond the burial arrangements, tributes have continued to highlight Akinnaanu’s impactful life and career. She began singing at just 10 years old and later made a bold decision to leave a banking career to pursue gospel music full-time.
Her breakout song, Omije Ojumi, became a spiritual anthem in many Nigerian churches and households, cementing her legacy as a voice of comfort and worship.
Her passing leaves a noticeable void in the gospel music scene, yet her songs and testimony continue to resonate with those she inspired during her lifetime.
