OGUN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Former Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins has sent a message of encouragement to Victor Boniface following his knee surgery, which has ended his season.
Martins, who battled numerous injuries during his playing career, told the Werder Bremen forward that his talent would not go to waste.
“I dey face am plenty for my career,” Martins began in pidgin in a chat posted on social media.
“I had surgery on both knees, and I even played with metal in my leg for nine years. You will come back stronger, just keep the faith. Your talent will not go to waste.”
Boniface underwent the procedure in Innsbruck, Austria, last Saturday and has since begun his rehabilitation process. The 25-year-old striker has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2025/26 season.

The surgery addressed a persistent issue in his right knee that affected his availability and form throughout the campaign.
Boniface failed to score in 11 Bundesliga appearances during his loan spell from Bayer Leverkusen, registering just two assists.
Recently, Boniface expressed his struggles on social media, posting, “I’ve been putting on a fake smile for almost a year. But God knows why all this is happening. I am grateful to God.”
Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi, vice-captain Victor Osimhen, and other teammates have also sent goodwill messages to their teammate.
Werder Bremen confirmed that the existing loan agreement will remain in place until June 30, 2026, despite Boniface’s long-term absence.
