LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Africa Magic has officially kicked off preparations for the 12th Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards, opening submissions for filmmakers eager to compete on the continent’s most prestigious entertainment stage.
The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in Lagos, Nigeria, in May 2026, where Africa’s brightest talents are set to gather for a night that celebrates creativity, heritage, and the future of the continent’s entertainment industry.
According to organizers, entries for this year’s edition opened on Sunday, January 11, with submissions running through Sunday, February 15, 2026.
Filmmakers and content creators from across Africa are encouraged to submit eligible works for consideration as anticipation builds toward another landmark celebration of African storytelling.

Widely regarded as MultiChoice’s flagship awards platform, the AMVCA continues to spotlight excellence in film and television while elevating African narratives to global audiences. The upcoming edition is expected to reflect the industry’s rapid growth, creative depth, and increasing international relevance.
In a notable expansion aimed at strengthening its pan-African footprint, the 12th AMVCA introduces new Indigenous Language categories.
For the first time, productions in North Africa and Central Africa will be recognized through the Best Indigenous Language (North Africa) and Best Indigenous Language (Central Africa) awards, broadening cultural representation within the ceremony.
Overall, the 2026 awards will feature 32 categories, comprising 18 jury-decided honours, 11 audience-voted awards, two Lifetime Achievement recognitions, and a single Trailblazer award celebrating outstanding impact in the industry.
