LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- A long-running paternity controversy involving Nigerian superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has resurfaced after a teenage girl identified as Anu Adeleke publicly appealed for a DNA test to confirm her identity.
In an emotional Instagram post shared on Thursday, January 15, 2026, Anu introduced herself as Davido’s alleged first daughter and explained why she is once again asking the singer to take a DNA test. Framing her message as a personal appeal rather than a public confrontation, the teenager said her request is driven by a desire for clarity as she grows older.
“Happy New Year 2026. I am a bit late into the 15th day of the month, but I’ve been busy getting back to school after the holidays with family and friends. This year I become a teenager… As I grow older, I want to establish my identity,” she wrote.
Anu recounted the difficulties she faced growing up, revealing that she was bullied from the age of six whenever she mentioned her father’s name at school. According to her, the repeated mockery took an emotional toll and eventually pushed her to seek professional mental health support.
“It was a sad, challenging time in my life. Despite the challenges, I still excelled to the top of the class and became the class prefect,” she said.
While noting that she no longer discusses her family background in school, Anu said entering her teenage years has made it important for her to resolve lingering questions about her paternity. She addressed Davido directly, stressing that the request is personal and not influenced by relatives.
“However, as I transition into a young woman, I am respectfully asking Mr David Adeleke (Singer @davido) for a DNA test to establish my identity. This test is between my dad and I. It is something I want. It is the right thing to do,” she wrote.

She concluded by thanking Nigerians who have supported her emotionally over the past seven years, adding, “This DNA test is the right thing to do for me. God bless you, Mr Adeleke.”
However, the renewed appeal contrasts with previous statements from Davido’s camp. In January 2025, the singer’s former lawyer, Prince Bobo Ajudua, publicly addressed the claims, stating that DNA tests had already been conducted at two reputable hospitals, including one selected by Anu’s family.
In an Instagram comment at the time, Ajudua wrote, “Which Davido please? After eDNA tests at not one but TWO reputable clinics, one which Dr. Deji insisted your family choose for peace of mind years ago, you are still doing this. Why?… Please give it a rest.”
His remarks suggested that Davido’s family, including his father Dr. Deji Adeleke, was fully aware of the matter and that test results had long been known to both sides.
