ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- National leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has stated that he will only consider returning to the All Progressives Congress (APC) if clear and concrete conditions are met.
Kwankwaso made the position known in a video message shared on Facebook by his aide, Saifullahi Hassan, where he dismissed any suggestion of a blind or unconditional defection to the ruling party.
The former two-term governor stressed that any political realignment must be guided by clearly defined agreements, including clarity on his role, the direction of governance, and the future of policies meant to benefit ordinary Nigerians.

“I will not join the APC blindly,” Kwankwaso said. “I must be properly informed of my role, the direction of the journey, and what becomes of our plans for the common people.”
He added that the interests of his supporters, the Kwankwasiyya Movement, as well as the political future of Kano State, must form a central part of any negotiation.
Kwankwaso further insisted that he would not associate with any political move that lacks structure, vision, and guarantees for inclusive governance.
The NNPP leader’s comments come amid speculations that influential figures within Kano politics had been mounting pressure on both Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and Kwankwaso to lead their supporters back into the APC.
While Governor Yusuf reportedly heeded calls to align with the ruling party, Kwankwaso was said to have resisted the move, insisting on a principled approach rooted in consensus and political clarity.
