ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-As political realignments intensify ahead of the August 8, 2026 governorship election in Osun State, the youth wing of former Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s political caucus, Omoluabi Progressive, has officially returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The group, popularly known as the Blue Movement, and led by former Senior Special Assistant to ex-governor Aregbesola, Mr. Wale Alabi, announced its return during a colourful rally held at Adenle Park, Osogbo.
Addressing party faithful at the event, Osun State APC Chairman, Mr. Tajudeen Lawal, assured members of the returning caucus of full reintegration and equal opportunities within the party.
Lawal said the APC would not treat the group as second-class members, urging them to immediately key into party activities and work collectively towards reclaiming power in the state.
“Now that you have returned home, I want to assure you of a level playing field to excel as full members of the APC,” Lawal said.
“You must integrate fully and work tirelessly for the success of the party in the August 8 governorship election so that Osun can return to progressive governance.”

He further charged the group to mobilise support for the APC governorship candidate, Mr. Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), describing him as the best option for the development of the state.
Also speaking, Oyebamiji described the return of the Blue Movement as a major boost to the party’s electoral chances, noting that the group’s reintegration symbolised unity and reconciliation within the APC.
“Today’s event is a clear sign of unity and a strong indication that the APC will win the August 8, 2026 gubernatorial election,” Oyebamiji said.
“The Blue Movement are core APC members who stepped aside during the 2022 election. We engaged them then, but they chose to take a break.”
He added that the return of over 6,000 members of the group would significantly strengthen the party’s grassroots structure across the state.
“Today, they are back and fully reinstated. This will greatly increase the voting strength of the APC. I urge party members to work closely with them, from unit to ward level, to ensure victory,” he said.
Earlier, the convener of the Blue Movement, Wale Alabi, said the group had always been part of the APC family before embarking on what he described as a political sabbatical.
Alabi explained that the decision to return was taken to coincide with the anniversary of the group’s formation and to contribute meaningfully to the future of Osun State.
He pledged that members of the movement would embark on massive mobilisation and voter education campaigns across the state in support of Oyebamiji, whom he described as the most credible candidate to drive development in Osun.
