ABUJA, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-Electricity supply has been completely restored to Taraba State, including Jalingo and its environs, after the successful completion of upgrade works on the Yola–Mayo Belwa Jalingo transmission line.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Transmission Company of Nigeria said full power supply was restored at 7:00 pm on January 13, 2026, following the completion of all pre-commissioning tests and the required soak period in accordance with standard operational procedures.
The company said the scheduled outage, which started at 2:16 pm on January 9, enabled contractors to undertake essential upgrade works on the transmission line.

“These included line stringing from the terminal tower to the newly constructed line bay to enable the energisation of newly installed 150MVA power transformers at the Jalingo and Mayo Belwa Transmission Substations,” the statement said.
TCN further explained that the Gombe–Yola transmission line was temporarily opened on January 11 to allow for line bay extension and transfer works at the Yola Transmission Substation.
The company noted that the upgrades would largely benefit the Yola Electricity Distribution Company.
“This enhancement will significantly improve power reliability, increase transmission capacity, and support growing electricity demand in Taraba State and neighbouring areas,” the statement added.
TCN expressed appreciation to electricity consumers for their patience throughout the outage.
“We appreciate the patience and understanding of electricity consumers during the outage and reaffirm our commitment to strengthening the national transmission grid for reliable and efficient power supply across the country,” the statement concluded.
